We're not just operators — we're skiers, snowboarders, and mountain lovers who fell in love with Georgia's legendary powder and never looked back.

OUR STORY

Austria Meets Georgia — A Partnership Built on Powder

Steep Catskiing was created through a unique partnership between Austrian mountain professionals and local Georgian pioneers who share one common passion: finding the best powder skiing experiences in the world.

Our project combines the strengths of both countries.

🇬🇪

The Georgian Side

Our Georgian partners know the mountains, the culture, and the local communities. They are responsible for developing and maintaining the local infrastructure that makes unforgettable adventures possible.

Their expertise includes:

  • Catski operations and snowcat logistics
  • Lodge management and hospitality
  • Local transportation and transfers
  • Mountain access and terrain development
  • Cooperation with local authorities and communities
  • Continuous investment in infrastructure and safety

Together, they provide the foundation that allows guests to experience the remote powder paradise of Bakhmaro.

🇦🇹

The Austrian Side

Austria has a long tradition of alpine guiding, mountain safety, and freeride culture.

Our Austrian team contributes:

  • International marketing and guest relations
  • Professional mountain and freeride guiding
  • Safety standards and avalanche management
  • Freeride training and coaching
  • Corporate and incentive programs
  • Development of new products and experiences

Most importantly, we bring passionate powder skiers from around the world to discover one of the last great freeride frontiers.

One Team – Two Cultures

What makes Steep Catskiing special is the combination of local knowledge and international mountain expertise.

Every program is led by a team of Austrian and Georgian guides who work together to provide:

Maximum safety
Local mountain knowledge
Professional guiding standards
Authentic cultural experiences
The best powder skiing opportunities available

More Than Catskiing

We believe that mountain adventures are about more than skiing.

They are about friendship, cultural exchange, discovering new places, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Our vision is to build a sustainable mountain tourism project that benefits local communities while offering world-class freeride experiences to guests from around the globe.

OUR MISSION

What Drives Us Forward

Respect the Mountains

The mountains came first, long before us and long after we'll be gone. We operate with minimal footprint and maximum respect for this pristine environment.

Support Local

From hiring local guides to sourcing food from Georgian farmers, we're committed to supporting the communities that make these adventures possible.

Safety First

No powder run is worth risking lives. Our guides are certified, equipment is top-notch, and protocols are strict. Your safety is our priority.

Unforgettable Experience

We measure success by the smiles on our guests' faces. Every detail matters — from first turns to final shuttles, it's all about creating magic.

Sustainable Tourism

We're building a business that gives back more than it takes. Carbon offsets, waste reduction, and conservation partnerships are part of our commitment.

Small Groups

We keep groups small for better experiences and less impact. No crowded runs, no waiting — just you, your group, and endless powder.

Travel Conditions

Freeride Lodge Bakhmaro LLC

Valid for 2026/27 season

1. Conclusion of the Travel Contract

This advertisement is not a legal offer, but merely an overview of services with prices. By registering, which can be done electronically or by email, the participant makes a binding offer to Freeride Lodge to conclude a travel contract. If registering for multiple participants, the registrant is liable, alongside these participants, for their contractual obligations as well as for their own, provided they have expressly and separately declared this. The participant is bound to this contractual offer for seven days. The transmission of the booking does not entitle the participant to the conclusion of a travel contract in accordance with their booking details. Rather, Freeride Lodge is free to decide whether or not to accept the participant's contractual offer. The contract is concluded by the booking confirmation sent by Freeride Lodge via email.

2. Payment

All prices are per person and include the services defined in the travel description. After conclusion of the contract, a deposit of 30% of the travel price per participant is due. The remaining payment is due 60 days before the start of the trip. However, it is only due when the specified minimum number of participants is reached. If the contract is concluded within 30 days before the start of the trip, the customer is obligated to pay the entire trip price immediately.

3. Participation Requirements

The trips offered require each participant to have excellent skiing technique in all terrain and snow conditions, as well as discipline and fitness. Each participant is jointly responsible for their participation in the trip and is obligated to follow the instructions of Freeride Lodge staff. Wearing personal protective equipment, including an airbag, avalanche transceiver, shovel, and probe, is mandatory. We strongly recommend wearing a helmet as well.

4. Services

The nature of cat skiing means that on some days, due to weather and safety reasons, more skiing is possible, and on others, less or not at all. Accordingly, there are no vertical meter guarantees or similar guarantees. Participants are responsible for their own travel and timely arrival at the starting point of the booked trip (Kutaisi International Airport).

5. Cancellation by the Participant

Up to 31 days before

50% of total price

30 days or no-show

100% of total price

In the event of a cancellation, it is possible to name a substitute person in place of the booked person.

6. Cancellation Due to Minimum Participants

If the minimum number of participants specified in the tour description is not reached, Freeride Lodge may withdraw from the contract, provided that Freeride Lodge has notified the participant of this within 30 days before the start of the tour. In the event of cancellation, the participant will receive a refund of any payments made as quickly as possible. Further claims are excluded.

7. Cancellation Due to Extraordinary Circumstances

If the tour is significantly complicated, endangered, or impaired due to force majeure, political or official measures, or natural events, both the participant and Freeride Lodge may withdraw from the contract. Upon termination, the participant will receive a refund of the paid travel price as quickly as possible. No further claims exist.

8. Termination by the Organizer

If the participant persistently disrupts the implementation of the trip despite a warning, or if their behavior is so contrary to the contract that immediate termination is justified, Freeride Lodge may terminate the contract. This applies in particular if the participant does not meet the special requirements of the trip. If Freeride Lodge cancels the contract, Freeride Lodge retains the right to the full travel price.

9. Additional Costs

All additional costs incurred during the trip as a result of or in connection with changes to the planned itinerary for reasons attributable to the participant are borne by the participant. This includes expenses resulting from delayed arrival, or costs for an early return due to indisposition, illness, or accident (e.g., helicopter repatriation, hospital stays).

10. Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend taking out adequate insurance at the time of booking:

  • Cancellation insurance
  • Accident, illness, rescue, and repatriation coverage
  • Travel luggage insurance

11. Limitation of Liability

By their very nature, the trips organized by Freeride Lodge take place primarily in open terrain under sometimes difficult to very difficult conditions. Participants accept an increased risk to life (avalanches, injuries, etc.) when freeriding. Freeride Lodge's contractual liability for damages other than personal injury is limited to double the tour price per person, provided that the damage was neither caused intentionally nor through gross negligence.

12. Submission of Claims

Contractual claims for non-conforming provision of services must be submitted to Freeride Lodge in writing within 30 days of the contractually agreed end of the trip. Participant claims based on warranty and contractual liability expire one year after the contractual end of the trip. Claims arising from tort are time-barred after 3 years.

13. Entry & Health Regulations

For citizens of the European Union and Switzerland, there is no visa requirement or other special entry restrictions in Georgia. However, participants are responsible for complying with all regulations important for the trip and carrying valid entry documents.

14. Jurisdiction

Georgian law applies exclusively to the travel contract and the legal relationships arising from it. The participant may only sue Freeride Lodge at its registered office in Georgia. Before initiating legal proceedings, participants should contact the independent ombudsman of the EU travel industry.

15. Invalidity of Individual Provisions

The invalidity of individual provisions of the travel contract or these travel conditions does not invalidate the entire travel contract. Booking-Form

These terms are part of the travel contract between Freeride Lodge Bakhmaro LLC and the participants.
